Computer automatically enters power saving mode when turned on

When I turn on the computer/monitor I get a message that says: pc is entering power saving mode. There is nothing I can do to get it out of this. I don't have another monitor to try it out on, no matter what I have tried, I can't get it to do anything, it just stays in powersaving mode. Is there any hope? (no viruses etc. no new program either, cables all connected good)

If it will boot into Safe Mode, open Control Panel and disable it.

replace ur keyboard, dont ask y.. just try a diff one. also, time for u to upgrade ur os. windows 98 = bad news. if the keyboard thing doesnt work then back up ur files/documents (cant keep ur programs, so u better have ur disks) and format ur drive, then install fresh.. and please download ur windows updates, make sure all drivers are correctly installed and working, make sure ur color is set to 16bit and resolution no lower then 800X600. have updated virus software.. update the virus definitions frewuently, have spyware programs "spybot, adaware" run a defrag and scan disk ounce a week. do not load any stupid plugins, use windows media player nine for music and movies, use winrar for zip files, install only the programs u need, and u better make sure ur games arent s$%#.. shi%%$ games meens more problems. if u have a dial up, get cable internet, and again its time for an os upgrade.. probably a system upgrade at 400 for a dell what the f#$% r u playing with that old s#!* for... thats like saying hmm well my 1981 toyota camry wont start anymore... yea no s#$%the f%^&n thing has more miles then carter has pills

Thanks for the response, however, I can't even get into Safe Mode, unable to use the monitor entirely, pressing keys on keyboard does no good. I wish I could get into Safe, then I would know how to disable from control panel. This is so nerve wrecking!

I was hoping Safe Mode would work. The other alternative is entering the BIOS/CMOS.
Drill down to the 'Entering BIOS' section at the link for help. The access key should
also appear on the screen during boot. If you need further help, please post your
systems information.
