I would prefer NOT to reformat my drive. I just want to find the remnants and get rid of them. I would never have installed XP on this machine if it had not told me I could uninstall if I didn't like it. If I would've known all the issues I was going to run into when I installed it, i would never have done it. Now I just want rid of it without losing all the stuff I already have on this drive. Open Windows Explorer and then click the C: drive in the left pane. Next click 'View' on the Toolbar and then click 'Details' in the menu. Now In the right pane, click the 'Name' tab at the top of the name listings. This will arrange the list by 'Name'. Try this several times to be sure the order listing reverses. When you have the order list set A-Z, hold the 'CTRL' key and click the 'X' in the upper right corner of Explorer to close it. Now release the 'CTRL' key and reboot your system. Be very sure to hold the 'CTRL' key down until explorer has closed! Regarding "locking up, running out of resources", would require information as to when it happens. If you can give us some details, perhaps someone will have suggestions?
