monitor auto shut-off

Howdy, I have a Hansol 701A monitor, which is Energy Star Compliant.
Basically, I never want my monitor shutting off, including when the computer is shut
off. If I want the monitor off, I'll hit the power button. When the computer starts
up I miss some things on the screen because the monitor has to leave it's "auto power-down"
mode or whatever. By the time the monitor is nice and turned on, some things that
flash by the screen are gone. Is this something that is hard-wired into the monitor
itself that can't be altered? I have messed around with my BIOS power settings already
with no luck. Thanks.

Open control panel, power management,
here you can select to never turn off monitor.

Because your monitor is EnergyStar compliant, it powers off when there is no video
signal from the computer. There's nothing you can do about that.
You might try configuring your computer's BIOS for slow startup. That would normally
just be a more exhaustive memory test. This might give your monitor time to warm
up.
The only other option is to replace the monitor with an LCD screen.

No problem Keith. Thanks both for your help. I don't suppose there is such a thing
as a normal monitor that doesn't automatically shut off anymore.. oh well, it's not
too important, I just thought I migtht as well try.
