Question about 'How do I fix the ''Details'' view in Explorer?'

I have a question about How
do I fix the "Details" view in Explorer?:
You are correct - problem was with the columns. However after "pulling out" the
lost "detail columns" - they are now in incorrect order. How could I rearrange the
columns to show, "file name", "size", "type", "date", in that order? Would like
to get whole thing back to original Windows Explorer format?
Incidentally is there a simple explanation of how the "lost detail" problem occurred
in the first place? Something I could remember to avoid.
Thanks for your help.

This procedure will reset all folders to the Windows default. That's all there is,
and there ain't no more.
- Open Windows Explorer and then click the C: drive in the left pane.
- Next click 'View' on the Toolbar and then click 'Details' in the menu.
- Now In the right pane, click the 'Name' tab at the top of the name listings.
This will arrange the list by 'Name'. Try this several times to be sure the order
listing reverses.
- When you have the order list set A-Z, hold the 'CTRL' key and click the 'X' in
the upper right corner of Explorer to close it. Now release the 'CTRL' key and reboot
your system. Be very sure to hold the 'CTRL' key down until Explorer has closed!

Drag and drop the column headers into the order desired. Then do exactly as JmC
says using only one Windows Explorer window.
