When I set my resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels, the colors will automatically change to 256. So, I change the color from 256 to high or true color, but then the resolution will aotomatically change to 800 by 600 pixels. Somehow I am not able to set the the monitor display to resolution: 1024 by 768 pixels with high or true color.

I also have this problem but I always assumed it was because my video card only has
2 m of memory.

Use fewer colours.

Not very understand.... The most important is that I wanted the resolution to be 1024 by 768. But, it only can support 256 color which make the whole screen very ugly. It cannot support Hi or True color. Then, changing the color to Hi color.... the resolution size in the input box in the Display Properties > Setting will automatically change to 800 by 600. Do u understand what I mean? Hope u can help me.... dun know what to do!

This is exactly what happens on my old computer.

You have a choice "1024*768" OR "High Colour".

You could try to get a new driver for your video card and see if that helps but I
think that you probably need more Video memory.

Yup! You are true.... the video memory is not enough! I have replaced the BIOS battery..... which is the cause of the problem. With the new battery..... the video memory are able to extend from 1MB to 4MB. Thanks anyway!
