Reactivating the ''It is now safe to.....'' Message

This message no longer appears when I turn my computer off. I would like to get the message to appear again. Can someone help with this issue? There is a LOGOS.SYS file in the windows directory. I looked at it using MSPaint and the message is there, but, it does not appear at shutdown. Thank you. Jim

What kind of computer do you have? Most newer computers shut down automatically, before showing the "It is now safe.."message.If your power button does not stay in when you turn the power off then that is a computer that will shut down faster so you will not see that message.Mine for instance will say "please wait" and then just shut off two seconds later.

If the system hangs with a blank screen and flashing cursor, there could be a problem.
If the system just shuts down automatically without showing the screen, this could
be considered normal.

I have an older machine running a PenII, with Win98SE. The Message does not come up and the machine does not turn off automatically. I would like to have the message come up. Any instruction would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Actually I arrived here looking for the way to bypass tha screen, and shutdown automatically.
I played with the startup and shutdown screens, and that is fun, but I want the pc
to shut off when I'm done.
If you decide to do this use:

Regedit

MyComputer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Shutdown

The keeey in the right pane is FastReboot
Modify the value to zero

Close, and it's done

I went to the Registry as you suggested and found the FastReboot key set to value "0". There was also a Default with a "value not set" setting. The message still does not come up. Any suggestions? Were you able to make your machine shut down automatically? That would even be better. If you were successful, how did you do it? Thanks for your response and help. Jim

Didn't the regedit thing refer to STOPPING the screen, not enabling it.Look at someone elses system registry for that key and set yours accordingly.
