Question about 'Getting Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers'

I have a question about Getting Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers:

Trying to network using Belkin F5D7230-4 Router & a Belkin F5D7000 PC card. Got internet connection. Can't seem to keep File & Print Sharing going. The second PC will show up in Network Neighborhood for a while then it's gone. Had it this morning did a update on AVG, re-booted and lost file sharing. Still internet sharing & Printer sharing but not file sharing Both PC Windows 982nd. Any help

You don't need ICS when using a router, that's what the router does. Reload drivers for NIC and Windows networking, Also check cables, and port on switch. Usually with Win95/98 you have to actually share something. You should use strong passwords or ACL's for second level security (assuming your router is providing a firewall).

I do not have my CD for windows 98SE. When I try to add my Printer, it asks for my CD. What do I do.> I was told it is in my computer already.

It would be good if you would read what appears on your screen
--especially if it is in a big red box.

The Subject line of the ancient thread you hijacked
is completely inappropriate to your post.

I'm hearing you say that your computer vendor
didn't give you the one you are entitled to.

|When I try to add my Printer, it asks for my CD.
|
A device driver is on the disk that came with your printer.
It is probably better than the ancient one on the Windoze install CD.

If you don't have a disk, download the Win98 device driver for your printer model
at the printer manufacturer's Web site.

|I was told it is in my computer already.

Assuming you mean the Windoze install CD:
From the root directory (C:\)
Find; Files and Folders; Named: WIN98_74.CAB

It may say something like
     In Folder
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS
The folder it names is where your install CD was copied.

If it says **There are no items to show...**,
your computer vendor completely ripped you off
and at some point you will likely have to buy a Windows install CD.
