Try.
Start-Run-type in MSCONFIG-click start up tab-untick programs not required to start

Most likely, she has a spyware on her system. If it's a "dialer", and she is on dial-up,
she better hurry, because her phone bill will skyrocket.

in addition try looking at a program called 'started'. located at www.outertech.com
