I believe it is just an executable that scans you machine. If not it should be in the Add/Remove utility in the Control Panel. The reason you can' update it, is the authors website has been part of an ongoing Denial-of-Service attack in the last week. Updating it would just replace what you have now by overwriting it, if it's the .EXE file. Spywareinfo is back up, but Mergin.org is still down.
