Question about 'Set Defaults in Explorer'

OK, I'm being forced to use a W98 machine for now, and one big annoyance on this particular machine is the Windows Explorer view. I would like to use the default/normal view, but nothing I've tried so far seems to get it back there. My explorer window has a blank grey column to the left with an "X" to close it (the column) and all the files/folders listed to the right. So I can't see a "normal" list of everything from "My Documents" to "A" floppy drive, "C:\" primary drive and folders/directories within that drive. How do I dump the grey column and get normal? TIA... Mike

Try this: create a shortcut on the desktop. Then right click the shortcut and choose Properties. Paste this into the Target window: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE Then click Apply, Ok. Then open the shortcut and see if that will give you the explorer view you're looking for for. This question has come up on the forum before in the last few months so you could try do a search for "explorer view".
