As was mentioned, RegSeeker is one good choice. I'd leave the unused file type entries alone, and there's another related to file types. This is the vendor's site. RegSeeker If your system's slowing down, I recommend clearing out useless junk files first. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes. Once you've cleaned those out, run the registry cleaner. They do make a difference. Too many invalid entires over time, can make a system sluggish. My compiled list of cleanup instructions. Detailed for the benefit of newbies. All the files in the "Windows" temp folder or C: temp folder, (if you have one) can be deleted. In some cases, the most recent ones may still be in use, until you reboot. Change the amount of disk space to use for the temporary internet files folder. The default is too way to high. Go into Internet Options - under General and set it down to 5 or 10 MB. Clear them out daily by choosing 'delete files' (under the same tab) and choose to "delete offline content". These file extensions I've listed are all safe to get rid of. If you're in doubt on any of them, create a new temporary folder, with a recognizeable name, and put it in your root directory. Leave them there for awhile. You can use Find - Files or folders to search for several file extensions at a time, if you seperate with a semi-colon and no space. ex: *.tmp;*.chk. Any of these can go, but you must type them correctly, so you don't bring up the wrong files. ~*.*;_*.*;*.??_;*.??~;*.$* *.CHK;*.Gid;*.OLD;*.prv;*.tmp;*.fts;*.ftg;*.diz;*.dir *.grp;*.$$$;*.bak;chklist;*.ftg;*mscreate.dir anything ending with an underscore: .??_ and anything beginning with a tilde: .~?? Most .LOG files can be deleted, but you need to be sure not to delete any program's Install.log file. Those are needed to UNinstall the programs. It's not always easy to tell. Go through your wallpaper .BMP files, and get rid of the ones you don't use. The same for the Windows Help and the Windows Media directory. Also, there are lots of .TXT files that you can chuck, too. Many of those are Readme files that came with programs you've installed. Be sure to check them all out first. The same goes for Animated Cursors and Office templates. Clear out excessive video clips. Type *.MOV. Open each one to check them out, same for *.AVI. Delete the ones you don't want. Get rid of excessive screensavers. Type *.SCR then hit Enter. Check each one out and delete the ones you don't want. If a screensaver is listed in Add/Remove Programs or is listed in the Start menu with an Uninstall or Remove option, remove it that way instead of just deleting the file. Get rid of any pre-installed Online Services folder. Go into Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall it, then go into Windows Explorer and delete the entire folder. Check which components of Windows are installed, and which ones can be removed. If you're not using the Microsoft Network, and you have it installed, you can save approx. 2.5MB. The same goes for Microsoft Fax and Microsoft Exchange. To uninstall Windows components: Go into the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, under the Windows Setup tab, select the components you want to remove and press OK. Once you are finished, view contents, and Empty the Recyle Bin. Set the Recycle Bin to use only 1% of your hard drive space. To do so, right click it's Icon on the desktop - choose properties and move the slider. Run Scan Disk and Defrag. Reboot. Download Windows ME's defrag tool to replace your original. It's about 10 times faster: ME Defrag Clear out the contents of the Index.dat files. It's a real challenge. Seriously, you'd know what makes a difference, and what doesn't. You build systems and start from scratch. You reformat often, so your system's are already clean. You probably have no use for registry cleaners. You don't install/uninstall a lot of programs, so in your case they are useless. They're of no use to people who wipe the drive regularly.
