Question about 'All of my desktop icons just became corrupted - what do I do?'

I have a question about All
of my desktop icons just became corrupted - what do I do?:
My desktop shortcuts (most) and quickstart shortcuts show the same icon of one of
my programs. When I click on ANY of the shortcuts only this one progam opens and
finds an incompatible file. If I rightclick on any shortcut and go to properties,
all infomation appears to point to the correct executable file. Then when I click
on Find Target the system opens Explorer and highlights the correct exe file. pressing
enter opens the correct program.
I unsuccessfully tried the repair action with Tweakui and Sysicon.
I created a new shortcut on the desktop and selected an icon for it. As soon as it
had been created it showed the image of the particular program, too and clicking
on the new shortcut also attempted to open the said program.
Has any body a solution?

Make a note of all the programs. Move icons to the
recycle bin. Then fine the exe file for each program on
your list. Right click the exe file click "send to" and
then select "create icon on the desktop". If the new desktop icon works then repeat
for all the programs
on your list.

Download this registry fix on this page. Unzip then run it. "Fix your Shortcuts":

Dear Carol,
the recommended fix worked: all my shortcuts on the desktop, in the quickstart bar
and under Start/Programs
are now working.
Many thanks.
