Shared folder overload

I can not have all of the computers in my network access a shared folder on another
network at the same time. All the afore mentioned computers are in a network called
"lab" and the shared folder is on another local network called "Vack2".
It seems that about 10-15 computers in "lab" can access the "Vack2" at the same time.
As soon as the critical number of systems open the shortcut to the shared folder
in "Vack2", the remaining systems get the error stating that the network drive is
inaccessible, or the network resource is unavailable. Opening Network Neighborhood
and viewing the Entire Network, "Vack2" won't even be listed. As soon as one of the
systems in "lab" that successfully connected to "Vack2" close the windows explorer
window of the shared folder, other computers in "lab" can see "Vack2" in the Entire
Network again.
This suggests that there is a cap to how many systems can access it at once. Is it
possible to raise that cap? Is it wise?

You're running your network on Windows 98?

The maximum is 10 (or less if specified)........
If it's workable, create another identical 'Vach3' folder.
Try Firefox:

Running 98 for underfunded small public school

I work for a small public school. All of the computer lab is donated, older machines:
Pentium MXs, Pentium IIIs and *everything* in between. I cycle out the older machines
when I can through new donations. Hopefully, the school's network will be able to
run some more updated technology someday soon and the budget will allow the purchasing
of XP liscences. But with education budget cutbacks in California...
