Upgrading from 95 to 98 just installs newer versions of the files that were already
there. WS3_32.DLL (which is part of Winsock2) isn't part of the original 95 installation.
Windows 95 users needed to install the Winsock2 update seperately, but it's included
in a 98 installation.

Once you download that .DLL file you need to Copy it into the C:\Windows\System
folder. Let us know, if you have any further problems with that.

Plus, you should upgrade to Dial-up Networking 1.4, (DUN 1.4), if you have an older
version. It should be listed in Add/Remove programs with the version number. Make
sure you choose the download for 98 on this Microsoft page.
Dial-up networking ver.1.4

It's WS2_32.DLL, not WS3.

Are you certain you don't have an unzipping prograrm installed? Winzip is often used,
so it may already be there. However, it has a nag screen to purchase it, so it's
not very desireable to use.

Here's a few to choose from. Read the descriptions of them, then get the one that
sounds easiest for you.
CAM UnZip 4.0

No we don't like to see people give up. I don't know what the problem is, but do
you happen to know, if anti-spyware cleaners have been used on this computer? There's
a Winsock2 fix I could have you run to repair it for you, but if there's a spyware
infection, it would be best to know, or find out, about that first.

Are you very experienced with computers? If you understand this information, you
can check against these symptoms on this page and decide if you want to run this
fix.

You're welcome, but you should keep your replies on the forum.

As for the C:\Windows\System32 directory, Windows 98 and other 9x systems don't use
that folder, so it's normal for there not to be much there. It's C:\Windows\System
that's important.

To speed things up a bit, and hopefully get your problems sorted, would you please
download this little program, Hijack This. Hijack This 1.99.1 Please create a New folder for it,
and unzip it into that folder.

Just follow these instructions, and if you've any questions or something isn't clear
let me know. Hijack This will show different things running on your system, including
the location, which should tell us, if there's a spyware infection. It helps us to
see the situation better.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Unzip 'Hijack This' into it's own folder.
Example: C:\HJT. It creates backups, and they're automatically saved in the same
location. Disconnect from the net and close all open windows. Run 'HJT' and Click
"Do a system scan and save a logfile". Note: most of the entries in HiJack This will
be harmless or even essential. Don't fix anything yet.

Once the scan is finished, the log will automatically open in Notepad. Select all
and copy/paste the entire log here. Please check this box (below message window)
before posting the log: "Check this box to preserve your spacing, or leave it
unchecked to have your text wrapped automatically...."

.."is there anyway to down load all the dll files..."

amani, that's what this Winsock2 Fix (I previously mentioned) is for, but first we
should find out if there's an infection that's caused the problem.

Please follow these steps in my last response, then reply back to this thread:
