Hello and Thank you for the Help, I am re-installing my Win98 Program with my set-up disc from Packard Bell. But gets stuck at A:\> drive saying "Not enough Memory needs 16 mb. "I have done this b4 just been a while, how do I get beyond this point to my installation files for 98? Can't remember what DOS Prompt to type in. Sad in SanFrancisco :-(~~~

Morning Monica,
Start with your computer turned off. Turn on monitor first. Then turn on your pc.
 Watch the screen. Do you see a memory count taking place? If so, how high does
it go? If you don't see the count go to at least 16 mB, then I would guess that
someone took memory sticks out of the computer, or the sticks may have become dislodged.
 You might try looking inside the computer - but turn it off first. Don

Well Monica, this is worth trying. You have nothing to lose. Look on your win 98
CD and find the files himem.sys and emm386.exe. Copy them to the root of C:. Use
a standard text editor (do not use Word, etc.) to edit the config.sys file on the
boot floppy (or make a copy of the boot floppy, then edit and use the copy) and add
the following two lines at the TOP of the config.sys file. Save and reboot.
DEVICE=C:\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\EMM386.EXE RAM

These statements make memory available to the os, and they may make your day. Good
luck, Don.
