Question about 'Replace the Ugly Startup and Shutdown Screens'

Hi, you wrote that you must change your picture to 320x400. I did this in my PhotoImpact
prgram. Does doing this automatically make it a 256 color windows bitmap or is there
something else I must do? If, so what? I tried to make a logo.sys screen but it
did not work. I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank you very much. JoAnn

Only if you specifed that.
|...windows bitmap ?
|
Only if you specifed that. (Save As: *.bmp)
|or is there something else I must do?
|
Some details of what you started with would be nice.
Filename.ext (e.g., Picture.jpg; Picture.gif; Picture.bmp)
Color depth
Resolution (You appear to have this under control)

This picture was 800x600. It was something I down loaded. It was saved as .bmp
when I saved the picture after downsizing it.
I am not sure at this time if it was a bmp or jpg when it was originally saved but
I think it was bmp. Does this help? JoAnn

Hardly.
If you can't tell what filetype something is by looking at it
(Microsoft's default setting for this is STUPID),
in Windows Explorer (My Computer):
Tools; Folder Options; View
Untick "Hide file extensions for known file types".
Tell your program what YOU want it to do:
Resolution (You appear to have this under control)
Color depth
Save As: *.bmp
