I have a compaq presario 7478 and recently bought a new computer. I then put the 7478 aside and left it sitting for a few months, I just tried to turn it back on and it doesnt work. It just shows the black compaq screen with the red writing, any suggestions?

Although there are many possibilities, a dead CMOS Battery could be the fault? Leave it plugged in for an hour or so, then try rebooting it again. Have you smacked it one, just in case the hard drive hasn't spun up?
