Question about 'Windows keeps forgetting simple settings, such as screen colors!'

I am having the same problem that many others are having with only 2 colors available. My OS is Windows 98. I dowloaded Belarc and under display it is indicating that I have a standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA) [display adapter] and a plug and play monitor. The monitor is an old GEM brand but it's coming up as plug and play. I've tried every suggestion from this site to fix this problem with no success. Does anybody have any other suggestions, or alternatively, can I just purchase another graphics card that is compatable with Windows 98. Thank you.

Is your video card integrated in the motherboard? Then you need to download the driver from the motherboard manufacturer.

Can you purchase a different compatible video card? Yes, provided you have an empty AGP or PCI slot.

Erik - you are a genius!!! After weeks of pulling my hair out I finally found someone to help me. My card is integrated on the motherboard. I managed to locate the model/serial number and go from there to the download. Everything is working perfectly. Thank you so much for responding. Hopefully this will help others as well. Denise
