98 Setup blank screen

I have just re-installed 98SE and get to the point of restart, then windows starts
to instal drivers etc and then goes to a blank screen and then starts a soft reboot.
I cannot get it to go in to safe mode. I have went through a comd promt and get
to the msmouse.vxd and even if I load or do not load the machine goes into same blank
screen soft re-boot. Really apreciate any ideas.

Is this occurring during the installation, or has this problem developed after
a completed installation?
Fresh install, or are you installing over-the-top of another?

I have same problem with Brian, but I can boot from a safe mode, I run fdisk but
nothing happen, cannot delete or add anything....now i try to reinstall again the
win98 SE.... by the way i have Linux in it that i want its OS to be deleted.

JMC,
This is occuring during the installation, I have done a clean installation ie
fromat the disc etc and the same thing happens. I though it was a bios problem associated
with the setting for the APG Video card, but been all through that. As I say when
I go through the set-up step-by-step it seems to blow at the MSMOUSE.VXD point.
