Boot.Ini help

I am running win98 on a tablet pc. I installed partition commander on it so I could
run 2 O/S on it. Totally screwed things up. Now it won't boot up at all.
Is there any one that can send me a screen shot of the BOOT.INI files so I can copy
them. Also I'm sure the registry files are screwed up can anyone help me with this
also.
IE: what I should look for or change.
The only way I can edit anything is to go to the edit.com from the dos command.
I could format my hard drive and start over, only problem is my cd rom is USB and
the generic oaktech. drivers on the boot disk will not work. I don't know how to
included the drivers on the boot disk to make it work then there is the problem that
there will not be a USB root directory on my hard drive with no O/S on it.

Happy New Year
there is no boot.ini in windows 95/98/98SE/ME its only for NT/2000/XP and so what
you need is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188867/EN-US see what you get.

XP INFO
Can you boot into Safe Mode to uninstall Partition Commander?
I use BootIT NG's partition resizer which does not have to be installed to resize
a partition.
Which is the second OS you want to install?

Did you disconnect from the internet and uninstall your anti-virus before installing
Partition Commander? It is usually safer to do so. Did the program come with any
specific instructions on installing?

I was able to uninstall partition commander with the uninstall that was with the
program. It was supposed to restore all my files however that is when everthing got
messed up. I did not have an anivirus program on the system at the time and I was
not on the internet. One other thing that is part of the problem is before I installed
the partition commander I tried to install the windows 2000 pro upgrade. It did not
fully install, it said there was an error in memory and could not finish, however
it installed enough files that it wants to boot to that system.
I there any way I can edit some files so that it will boot up to the win98. It will
not boot up in safe mode at this time.
Thanks for any help.

Happy New Year! Thanks for the reply.
Another problem I'm havein is berfore I installed the patition commander , I tried
to install window 2000 upgrade. It did not install fully and I got an error message
and it would no longer load, however it loaded enough files that it is now the default
O/S system and I can no longer get win 98 to boot up.
Do you have any idea what files I can correct so that it will boot up to win98 again?
It will not boot in safe mode the only way I can edit files is going to edit.com
from tha dos promt.
Thanks for any help

Boot.Ini help

XP INFO
hello Jeff, Have you tried re-seating your RAM or running a test on it to see if
it is the RAM that is causing the error in memory? Did you disconnect all of your
peripherals, printers and modems, etc. before attempting the upgrade? Was the drive
cleaned of junk files before upgrading? (Delindex.bat or CCLeaner)
Is the 2000 upgrade CD scrupulously clean and free from scratches, especially on
the label side?
Have you tried the bootiniedit bootdisk from the link above?
3am and time for sleep. See you tomorrow, God willing.
