sound driver or card???

I have lost my sound and cannot figure out what I need to do to get it back. Going
to Control Panel>System>Device manager and scrolling down the list, I have a YAMAHA
OPL3-SAx Reserved and it says that it is a driver and that the "Device is working
properly". So, I guess I have a driver but, how do I locate which sound card I have
besides tearing into the PC? Isn't the name of it somewhere that can be found in
the Control Panel. Going to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Information>click +
on Components and + on Multimedia and click Audio codecs, it shows all of my drivers.
It also shows:
1. cd audio (CD Audio device-Media Control)
group- mci
driver- mcicda.drv
disabled
version 4.3.0.1998
2. sequencer (MIDI Sequencer Device-Media Control)
group- mci
driver- mciseq.drv
disabled
version 4.3.0.1998
3. waveaudio (wave Audio Device-Media Control)
group- mci
driver- mciwave.drv
disabled
version 4.3.0.1998
All of the other drivers (10 more) appear to be fine. How do I enable these three?
Anyone have any ideas? I would appreciate your help. Obviously this is the root of
why I have lost all of my sound and when I open Multimedia on the control panel,
half of the tabbed pages are grayed out.
Thank you,
Tony

Be sure your speakers function. If the speaker icon exists in the system tray, this
usually indicates that the system sound is working. You can right-click this tray
icon and select 'Open Volume Controls', to be sure the sound settings are correct
and are not muted.
To determine your systems audio device, you can download and install a program like
(This program is also handy for other system information). AIDA32.
When you run it, expand the MULTIMEDIA listing in the left pane and then click on
the AUDIO related listing. Your device information should display in the right pane.
If you should need to reinstall the drivers, you may already have them available
on media that came with your system? Or use...Sound Card Drivers.com

JmC;
I thank you and, it appears so should the rest of computer/novice land. It is 3:08
am and I think I will try this manana. Will definitely get back to you on it. Nite.
By the way, no speaker icon on task bar and audio drivers DISABLED (all 3) and The
vol. control icon on entertainment>vol control does nothing when rt. clicked to open.
