Argali White & Yellow Search Program

I'm on dial-up--my ISP is some one I found on the net. I use Google's toolbar, but have disabled it. I downloaded Argali search program just for fun. Is anyone familiar with it? It was recommended by Kim Komando. When I try to run it, I get an error message saying I've blocked ads on my computer. I wrote to them asking how to unblock them and they said, "Argali displays its ads in exactly the same way as regular web sites (e.g. Yahoo, MSN, Weather.com et al) do it. Thus you block/unblock ads for Argali in exactly the same way how you do it for regular web sites. Most likely, your firewall/internet filter/"hosts" file is blocking Argali access to one of its ad providers. Unfortunately, we cannot give you an advice on how to turn ad blocking off -- the blocking is done from outside of Argali and Argali can only detect that ads are blocked but it cannot know how it is done in your computer." I have no firewall that I know of. I don't really understand what the Hosts file is or does. Help if you can. Thanks.

Check with this anonamous ISP and see if they have pop-up blocking installed on your
account?? .

Your Post leaves me with the impression that you are just screwing around with your
computer, downloading whatever strikes your interest at any given moment.

If your idea of fun is searching the Phone Book, get a life, like learning how to
use a computer responsibly.

Loose the Phone Book search if it's a problem.

Any respect for I had for her just went down a notch.

It protects you from garbage websites and from yourself.
If these sites are in your HOSTS file, I'd call that a strong indicator.
Dump the program and tell the company to take a long walk on a short pier.

My computer is my toy and I can do whatever I want with it. That said, my ISP doesn't do anything but get me on the net for a low price. That's all I want from them and that's all I get. Dial-up and broadband make a difference sometimes when it comes to problems people have, that's why I gave that information. Argali is a yellow page/white page "phone book" on the internet. Searching for people is a very common practice and why I search for people is my business. (Is it O.K. with you that it's done for class reunions?) O.K.............I'm done with my anger thing. Now to the problem. They're telling me I have ads blocked. I don't know how to unblock them and need help. I really do appreciate any help you can give.

I think I was replying at the same time you were. O.K., I understand a little more now. It appears it's really not a good thing to have. I'll dump it, run Spybot and Adaware and play with some other program. THANKS!!!!!!!!!
