I couldn't find the uninstaller for IE 5 in add/remove programs. So, I checked msinfo32 in the tools menu. Was it there? NO. Then, i read somewhere that to bring up the uninstaller for IE 5 in 98SE you have to type in a command in the run box: rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt. I did this, and the uninstaller for IE 5 finally showed itself. What next? Well, the option to repair IE 5 is grayed out....Is there anything i can do?

Reinstall it of the Win98 CD.

Do you have this?

If you don't then buy it of eBay.

If you are going to use crappy software,

at least use the most recent version.

I suggest you use a browser that doesn't aid in its own hijacking.

IE 5 is ancient and even more insecure than 5.5 or 6, since there haven't been updates
available for it for years and years.

The common reasons for not being able to repair IE are, either the version you have
installed didn't include the repair option.. too old, or you've never updated it.
Update it to IE 6, or better yet switch to a more secure, less malware prone browser.
Firefox and Opera are recommended by security experts. Firefox does need a decent
amount of memory installed, though.
