Which of the 'internet explorer' versions work best with windows 98? i currently
use version 5 (5.5SP2), without no fuss and it's a spell! However, what about version
6, many still use this version, my colleagues at work for example. Should I consider
to upgrade due to it is safer the new rather than 'the old ver.5' ??. Please advise.

All Versions Of Internet Explorer are Malware Magnets, gigazillions of IE Users have had their Computers Hijacked, and Billions of Hours, and Money spent on Clean up. Try a totally Different non IE based Browser. I like Firefox Myself.

Well in my experience I've used IE5.5SP2 for a number of years without any problems
or glitches.

I've been using IE6.0SP1 for a couple of years and occasionally that throws up glitches
and crashes. I would say out of the two IE5.5SP is more reliable.

I haven't tried FireFox or Opera which Gewg_ is always pushing so I can't comment
there.

IE 5.5 is perfectly stable and useable with Win98. In the 9 years I've been using Win98 (i.e. ever since it came out) I've never had a problem with any version of IE.

I upgraded from IE5.5 to 6 in order to surf more complex websites, such as MySpace, YouTube, and Google Video. I wasn't sure there would be much of a difference, and in fact there wasn't. IE6 seems to behave just as IE5.5 did, and I actually can't tell the difference between them. IE6 doesn't seem to be an improvement.

If you've experienced no problems with IE5.5 then DON'T upgrade. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I promise you that IE6 is not a better product; they're both the same, in my experience; and I see that Keith reckons IE5.5 is actually the more stable of the two.
