It depends on the applications. For example I start getting Errors if the Hard Drive Space drops below 4 gigs when using a DVD burner. The Burning software makes a large temp file. If you never did anything but Surf the internet you could go down under 100 megs or so maybe, before the error messages start up.

Steve covered the numbers pretty well.

Most folks who ask this kind of question

1) haven't backed up their "precious" data.
