My impression is check Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and see
if Dial Up Adapter is still there and causing a problem.
I must warn that I'm not familiar with IEradicator. Sounds interesting, tho. I
simply removed IE from my desktop and shoved it deep down in the accessory menus
and set Firefox and IEView to call certain sites in IE. However, since M$ft does
not give updates, even old updates after you load Win98, I actually have no sites
to call with it.
I'll go read about IEradicator.
Thank you and good luck.

A truly radical approach--though **installing IE as a separate component**
might be considered a nice idea.
The rendering
engine may be called by some (poorly-written) apps.
There are other reasons to keep Internet Exploder around (in a neutered state).
See link below.

The wisest thing to do in the majority of cases.
An entry in the software firewall's parameters
which limits (forbids?) IE's access to the 'Net is also wise.

"Automatic" (i.e. ActiveX) is the key word missing from that thought.

Yup. There are few reasons to use Internet Exploder any more with W98.
The notable one is **I really want to get my Windoze box infected**.

Ripping Internet Exploder out by the roots is a radical step
and will leave some folks in the lurch.
