Hi All.
Got a puzzling one for you...........

I have a PC here:
IDE Chain 1: Win98 Drive and another Data Drive (XP)
IDE Chain 2: CD ROM and Another Data Drive (XP)

The problem:
In the OS in My Computer: I can only see the two drives from IDE Chain 1 I can see
the CD ROM drive.....The hard drive on IDE Chain 2 does NOT show up
BUT...the BIOS Shows all 3 Hard Drives

How can I get the Hard drive from IDE Chain 2 to show up in My Computer? It's a perfectly
good drive

Thanks !

This probably has to do with the file system structure on the drives. Win 9x FAT32 can't "see" NTFS drives However, if XP is installed on a FAT32 drive, it can see NTFS drive, simply because of the O/S. (Operating System)

It's a good day when you learn something

Yep, it's a 20G NTFS....UGGH!
I have two xp drives, one FAT & one NTFS.
Both are virus-ridden and will not boot...but I need two non-infected text files
off the 20G and I had a HD laying around with Win98 so I figured I'd work it.

Now I need to config a drive as XP or NT or 2K to see NTFS, right?
Can I put either of those on a 2GB HD?...just need bare bones OS to retrieve data
off a slaved drive...
