First, find the disk that came with the device (that printer).

If there are any traces of the printer are left on the computer[1], get 
rid of those.

Karen Sounds like a simple driver problem. If you don't have the original printer disk, then key in the name of the printer and "drivers Windows 98" in Google (leave out the quotation marks) and hopefully it will give you a site that has the drivers you need. Good luck. Jerry
