Well I can assure you it does on mine, it always as done for many many years.
If I do a format and rebuild I install my video drivers so I can set my colours to
what I want. The next day I startup and the colours are back to 16. I go to change
them back and I can't. I check the monitor and it says Default monitor. I put in
the drivers for the monitor I'm using, now I can change the colours to what every
colours I want too.
I've had 2 monitors with this computer and both of them do the same thing. So I'm
telling you it always makes a different to me.

Once again, I can't quote you because you posted below the text instead of above.
Why do you REFUSE to listen to anyone else?
Anyway, you have a very strange setup, if that's the case. Default monitor, or not,
really makes no difference in the screen appearance. So, you don't know what you're
talking about.
On both my previous, very old system and my newer 2-1/2 yr. old Dell running XP,
with a Flat Panel monitor... default monitor looks no different, than when I change
it so it has the mfgr. name.

Not not refusing to listen. I'm just giving my point of view thats what forums are
for, yes.

Giving your point of view about what, Keith?
1. The monitor vs. video subject? or..
2. the fact that you refuse to be more considerate of others in regard posting your
reply ABOVE the post?
No, I don't know everything and have no idea how you read that into my comment. The
thing is we can all learn from each other, but you refuse to change your stance on
anything, no matter how many of us point out you're wrong.

About the topic title 256 Color, how to change
>2. the fact that you refuse to be more considerate of others in regard posting your

Its not a matter about being considerate, I'm very considerate. Its a matter of using
a desent forum. I use 40 different forums and EVERYONE apart from this one
if you add a reply to a topic its always placed the last on in the list. And when
you go back to the topic lists because that was the topic that was the last one replied
too it goes to the top of the list. This must be the only forum that you can't PM/email
any Admin or Mods to give your comments or complaints.
>No, I don't know everything and have no idea how you read that into my comment.
I've read a lot of your other posts and you give some valuable information, so you
do know a lot.

There is nothing that springs to mind. Please give a for instances.

Yes, 4th-rate forum software is widely available. I chose *this* site
(in no small part) **because** of the way the posts are THREADED.

Has Annoyances support ever contacted you about complaints re your posting below
the messages? I contacted them directly yesterday with a detailed explanation. I
also encourage others who feel the same way to contact them about it. (btw, not via
report abuse link)
You're a very polite, mild mannered person, Keith. I can't imagine you being intentionally
inconsiderate of others. I have no problem with you, other than the way you insist
on posting your messages. Have you ever hit reply to your own posts? "Reply or follow-up

You say, Its a matter of using a desent forum. I use 40 different forums and EVERYONE
apart from this one.
As I've said in a past discussion over this very issue (like over a yr. ago. now),
maybe you should stick with posting on the Other 39 forums, if you don't like this
one and refuse to cooperate with other forum 'helpers'.
You're annoying us, frustrating us and angering us. Yet, you refuse to change your
method according to the way things are on these forums.

Keith,
The simple fact is, as has been pointed out before, when you tack your post on
the end, you are not replying to the OP as intended, as in this thread you replied
to Carol.
You know how this forum works, the OP wouldn't get notification that you'd responded and,
on the other hand, frankly it's irritating when you get a notification that somone
has responded to your message only to find that it's someone like you intending
to answer the OP. I turned off notifications a while ago for this very reason.
So no, it's not considerate to either the person you repond to or the person you should
have responded to.
Do you think people keep picking you up on this just for kicks?

KeithT, the other Keith intended for this post to be in reply to mine not the OP's.
You wouldn't get a notification about this one (for example), unless you subscribed
to the "thread". He seems to be doing better responding to the OP when intended.

I click on the [Reply or follow-up to this message] under the person that I want
to see and comment on what they have written.
If I want to say something to someone specific I will highlight their name e.g. @Bald
Eagle or PM them.
Carol you said you email admin yesterday can I ask where you had the link from? I've
searched but I can't find one.
I'm sorry if it annoys you for how I post and what I write in my post buts that's
how I do things on forums, its an open forum. You can always complain to admin.

I realize that Keith, but have a look at one of YOUR posts, i.e. how it looks to
us, when WE click reply to YOU. None of your message shows up in the reply window.
It's not just annoying, it's maddening.
We should NOT have to contact them about it, but as I said I emailed them a complaint
yesterday about the way you post your responses. The thing is, you need to do it
differently on these forums. There's even a message about it up there, as I've pointed
out before.
It's shown EXACTLY like this.....
Type your message here:
(important: place your response at the beginning of the message)
If you want to quote someone, why can't you cut/paste the text you want to comment
on, like the rest of us do? It may be a little more trouble, but at least you aren't
posting way at the bottom of their message.
You should keep all your responses on the forum. That's how it's s'posed to be done.
As for contacting Annoyances, you need to go to Help and follow the yellow brick
road.
HOWEVER, if you plan to contact them and expect them to change something you don't
like, you're wasting your time. They use "home grown" forum software. They have "upgraded
it a few times and made a few helpful changes, we've been wanting. Who know which
life time, it'll be before the make any further changes.
