I HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS. I NEED TO RUN WINDOWS SETUP AGAIN, BUT MY COMPUTER DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE MY CD ANYMORE. WHEN I CLICK ON "D" DRIVE IN CONTROL PANEL I GET "FATAL EXCEPTION OCCURED AT 0167:BFF8976B". I CAN NOT GET ON THE INTERNET EITHER.

I Need to run windows setup due to an invalid VxD dynamic link from VWIN32(01) + 00000714 to device "0009"but my computer stop reconizing my "D" drive (my cd rom), also. And I am not able to get on the internet to download anything to try and fix my problems. Is there anything I can do to fix my computer at this point? Thank You. Beckie

We need more information. What Operating System, Computer type, Manufacturer's Model 
#? Processor type & speed and installed Ram in MB would be helpful.

If you have a compatible Boot Disk (floppy), you could start your computer with the 
Floppy in the drive, select "Start computer with CD support" and at the A:\ type 
 "sys C:" ( no quotes). you should see the message, "System Transfered"

Remove the Floppy and restart the Computer.  Post back here with results, or if you 
have no Boot Floppy for your OS.

Windows puts up the scariest messages sometimes, when often the problem is minor.

The easiest thing to try first is restore a registry backup dated prior to this problem. 
There are only 5 backups by default. Start/Shutdown, choose Restart in MS DOS mode, 
or reboot and press the CTRL key, just before Windows loads, until you get the boot 
menu. Choose Command prompt only. 

At the C:\> type: scanreg /restore Press enter. A good backup will have the 
word "Started" before it. Choose a date prior to this problem. Then hit Enter. You 
should get a message that Windows successfully restored the registry. Then CTRL_ALT_DEL 
to get back into Windows.
