Hi everybody. Ive just brought a digital Camera for e.bay picture purposes on my Windows 98. The problem ive got is that after downloading the installation disc drive, and then going through the proceedure of installing the camera into the back of the computer in the USB port, and then watching the beginning of the installation of the camera, my computer suddenly tells me that no drive can be found, can anybody out there tell me why my computer is saying this, when ive just downloaded the disc drive ? Regards Mcgill

You might want to try a little harder to use the proper phrase.
(You weren't even close):
cache of http://www.karlsforums.com/faq/faq_devicedriver.htm

It sounds like you tried to use an XP driver:

I would think you would want to give your $$ to another corp

Note "more savvy shopper".

There is a universal device driver that is even better than Maximus Decim's:

***ahem, "Card Reader" , cough cough ***

1. It's easier to find a card reader that supports Win98SE than a new camera that does. This is not to say that every card reader out there has a 98SE driver, but a good number that I see on the shelves still do (you do need to check the box or mfr's website before you buy it!). I have two 3½" front bay readers and a 4-card external reader that all work fine with Maximus Decim's Generic USB driver, (and should work fine on the Cruzer95 driver as well), but they all have 98SE drivers on supplied driver CD's as well.

2. Erase your pictures without wasting the camera battery charge.

3. Read from a card from someone else's camera.

4. Faster transfer speeds of pictures to the hard drive.

5. Easier to use memory cards for other purposes (music players, cell phones, PDA's) and you can access the cards even if your camera 'dies' (not to mention be able to use your old memory cards for general file transfer purposes, if you buy a new camera that uses a different type of card.

6. All that for less than $20 for each reader!

I bought my first Olympus 2 MP digital camera in April 2002. It's in my car glovebox, still in use. I also have a Panasonic 5 MP - 6x optical zoom and a Canon 8 MP - 12x optical zoom (PowerShot, not an SLR).

I have 21.3 GB of pictures from those 3 cameras.

How many times have I connected a camera to a computer?

NEVER!!! NOT EVEN ONCE!!!

When I bought the Olympus, I bought a Dazzle SmartMedia USB card reader along with it.

I don't know right off hand if my Canon 'supports' Win98SE, but it doesn't matter.....
