cannot burn to cd-rom

Looking for help to solve cd-romm burning issue. Cannot backup to cd-rom using Acronis
True Image version 9, or cannot burn to cd from within Peachtree. Seems only way
to burn is through Roxio cd creator. I have a Sony cd burner and dvd read drive.
Is roxio messing with other programs writing to the cd, or are there settings in
cd properties to change? I have looked but can't find anything to understand. I
have windows 98 hp 450mhz pc 256 ram

I forgot to clarify messages that come up with trying to burn... I get a message
that says media is write protected and sometimes media may be poor quality, but I
use the same kind of disc by the cd manufactureer.

I think it might be worth posting this query on the Roxio discussion forum. The
link for discussions specifically about easy CD Creator is here:
http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?s=1253a4a309e9a604245851d20953ed75&showforum=98
- or you might try here:

but this is rather a quiet forum.
Here's one more for luck!

Burning a CD under Win98 is a tricky business. Try uninstalling ALL of your CD burning
programs, then reboot, then reinstall only ONE CD-burning program.
The programs produced by different companies are often incompatible. Having two burning
programs installed will often cause a fatal conflict between them.

quoting Ed: "Burning a CD under Win98 is a tricky business. Try uninstalling ALL

I totally agree, they do seem to interfere with each other - that being said I had
excellent results burning all types of disc with Roxio under Win98, so if it can
do everything you want I'd keep that one!

"Burning a CD under Win98 is a tricky business."
I've had good luck with Nero Express and cdrtools (cdrecord.exe). Bootit Next Generation
won't detect my USB CDRW, and the NUSB drivers don't work either.
I did have to add some USB drivers before the peripherals worked right.

update to problem, I discovered an error code while trying to backup with acronis
true image 9 E00040014 access to file is denied. (no longer getting media is write
protected message...go figure) anyway... did google on this and discovered another
forum: www.wilderssecurity.com forum which is official forum for acronis T.i. I
have reports and stuff to collect on the problem pc and need to send it in (as mentioned
to do from others who posted with same problem)...so from what I gather problem is
w/ a.t.i. software, as, I can burn cd from roxio cd creator. They may be able
to provide further fixes with info sent in...
every here has been so insightful and helpful, so wanted to let you all know of this
so if others also come in with ATI burning issues of this site. again, thx bunches
and will likely be back with other issues.
