In Device Manager "uninstall" or "disable".

I don't know what you mean, its a CD you don't delete it. If your talking about wiping
the hard drive clean and doing a fresh install of Win98 then that slightly different.
You will need a Bootdisk. Make sure the BIOS
is setup to read the floppy drive first in the boot sequence. Make sure that Format.com
and Fdisk.exe are on the boot disk.
Start your computer up with the boot disk inserted. If you only have one hard drive
with no partitions then that drive will be C: and your CD Rom will be D:. At the
A:\ prompt type in D: and enter if the CD Rom drivers are working then the
prompt should go to D:\. With the Win98 CD in the drive just type Dir to see if you
can see the files on the root of the CD.
Go back to the floppy drive type A: and enter. Then type Format C:
and confirm Y to erase the drive. Depending on how big the drive is it could
take a few minutes. I have a 20Gb HD and it takes 15-20 minutes to format.
After the format is complete you can label the drive, normally I just type in Hard
drive. When it formats it checks the drive for back sectors, you should see the
final report when it finished.
Now type in D: (CD Rom drive letter) and enter then just type in Setup
and enter. Just follow all the prompts to install Win98.

Keith's procedure will delete all data from the hard disk, including all Emma's user
files.
If the hard disk has enough free disk space, a less radical solution is to start
up with a bootable floppy disk, and simply rename the folder C:\WINDOWS to C:\WIN98
and then install Windows 95 (or whatever operating system is desired).
The Windows 98 folder thus survives, under its new name, and any user data files
can be retrieved from (for example) C:\WIN98\DESKTOP and no reformatting of the disk
is needed.
If disk space is limited, Emma can start up using a floppy disk then delete the folder
C:\WINDOWS to remove Windows 98, and then install some other operating system - all
thus done *without* needing to format the disk and destroy all user data on it (e.g.
in C:\My Documents).

Yeah, we've all suffered from a bit of that from the o/p's lately! :-)
