Internet Explorer & Installing software

Any solutions for the following:
1 Internet Explorer Self-extracting cabinet
For XP = IE7-Windows XP-x86-enu
Is there a windows 98 version by any chance? Would that be IE7-Windows 98-x86-enu?
Or more likely a w98 version for IE 6.0, 5.5 or 5.0? If so, would they be IE6-Windows
98-x86-enu ...
2 Installing software without an installer Wizard
If no installer wizard exists and add/remove does not work either. How is it possible
to install software (plus no install option exists on the txt file) in the correct
unknown locations - in this case a display driver?
3 Uninstalling software-proper procedure
The same applies to uninstalling software without an uninstaller, as well as neither
accessible via add/remove? Just deleting, fails to alter the registry for one thing.

No IE7 is for WinNT.

You can download IE6 from Microsoft Web site. As far as problem software, sometimes
reinstalling the Program over the top of itself will repair the uninstall feature.
You can also manually remove it by deleting the Program Files, and manually removing
entries in the Registry
If a program won't uninstall, I usually just leave
the Program myself. Many times that is the safest since most unused Programs don't
cause a problem.

Drivers are not installed in the usual sense. You can put it in any folder you like
(although Windows/System is most usual); then to start using it you go to "add/remove
hardware" and follow the dialogs, eventually getting to the point where you tell
Windows where the driver is stored.
To uninstall a driver and replace it with another, go to "add/remove hardware" and
follow the dialogs to change the driver, or change it in "device manager". To just
uninstall the driver (so that the hardware no longer works at all - not a good idea
for a display?) you can indeed delete the file from Windows/System and delete the
hardware from "device manager".
Sorry if I@ve made any mistakes in the above, just responding from the hip without
checking my facts first because I'm currently running WinXP (I know I shouldn't really...)

Steve,
Thanks. But the only way in this case is to locate the self-extracting cabinet for
IE6 as I unable to access the microsoft website with this pc.

Then download IE 6 from one of the 3rd party download sites, like oldVersion.com
