Firerwall For W98

Before Microsoft ceased support of Windows 98, I used free versions of AVG Antivirus, Zonealarm and Adaware SE. Since then, Zonealarm and Adaware have ceased W98 support although Adaware can still be updated manually. I have an XP computer and I need to keep the W98 so, can anyone please suggest any free software to replace Zonealarm which supports W98? Hope this hasn't gone on twice. I couldn't find the first posting so it may not show.

There's nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you. _________________________________________________________

You don't seem to have a firm grasp on "Header". Before posting again,
you'll want to re-visit this page

and wipe out any topic-specific stuff.

...and you reminded me of an old Groucho joke.

The **oldest** version of ZA you can get is actually the best one.
I've said it before; I'll say it again: FIREWALLS DO NOT NEED TO BE UPDATED.

You are worried over NOTHING.

That's said, the Jetico freeware product has received glowing reviews here.

If you like Zone Alarm, version 2.6 was a good one. It is still easy to find. A Firewall just makes a Computer stealthy. It doesn't need updated to do that.

Thanks jr. Keith, thanks to you too. I didn't realise about the signatures. You have made that clear for me now. Thanks again everyone. Brian

That's my favourtite too ! Trouble free for many years, packet-level filtering, pretty good support for a free product.

Go to oldversion.com and scroll down to the bottom to Security. The last version of ZA that supports Win.9x is 6.1.744.
