Internet Connection failing...

Running W98se, 128R, 600mhtz, antique compaq desktop... I'm in SeaMonkey Browser Composer, typing a forum response, and the cable connection fails in a few minutes... Reboot fixes it... Start>Run>"WINIPCFG">change PPP to D-Link>Renew>OK.. fixes it too, but it still fails again in a couple minutes..? Is there another setting somewhere to stop my connection from always crashing..? I think the PC's OS has been hit by a nasty American Intel fellow's, hack, who is a little upset at my last few anti-political bitching posts in various forums... Is this glitch a virus or bug?..

Gecko stuff (SeaMonkey, FireFox, Thunderbird...) is getting better over time,
but those are notorious for memory use quirks.
Shutting down the suite more often than you normally would
is something I find helpful.

Have you tried it with a brand new profile? (It could be a borked extension.)
Have you tried reinstalling the app?

The best SeaMonkey support is at
news://news.mozilla.org/mozilla.support.seamonkey
also available via a Web interface thru
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.seamonkey
(Spam Central these days) 8-(

We're smiling--but you didn't explicitly say that you scanned for malware.

Y'know, if you tick the **preserve your spacing** box at the bottom of the page,
you won't have to insert an ellipsis after every sentence.
(If you aren't going to format your post as HTML yourself, then, yes, you *need*
it.)

Sidebar about one of my pet peeves--inprecise abbreviations:

To me, "128R" means 128 ohms. (Not
a standard value.)
In computer parlance, "128R" has no meaning.

"mhtz" is wrong on multiple levels:
m == 0.001
M == 1,000,000 (making you 9 orders of magnitude off)

When you abbreviate something named afer a person, you capitalize it.
The unit named for Heinrich Hertz is abbreviated "Hz" like this: 600MHz.
