If Powered Speakers, make sure they are plugged into power, and the on/off button
is not turned to off. Make sure the sound is not just muted in Windows. If all that
is OK, then might have to reinstall the Sound Drivers.

1)Are they plugged into the correct jack?
2)Is the volume control in windows muted?
3)Is the volume knob on the speaker turned up?
4)Are these powered speakers? Is the power cord plugged in? Is the power button turned
on?
5)Do you have head phones plugged in?
6)Is there a mark beside the sound device in device manager?

- Your speaker must be plugged into the GREEN
socket.
- Pull the plug out and push it all the way in. Oxidation on the plugs can make
them lose contact.
- There is a position where they can appear to be pushed in but are not far enough
in.
- Have you ever tried these speakers with that sound card? Some sound cards have
enough output to drive passive speakers. I remember when I went to a new sound card
and got virtually no sound out and found it had to be paired with amplified speakers.
- Check Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Sound &
Game Controller . Take a look at the Properties. That will tell you
if the driver is enabled. See if the driver matches the sound card. Mine says Soundblaster
PCI which is right because I have a Soundblaster PCI card.
- Press F8 while starting up and take a look thru your CMOS settings. Is
there a check to switch between an onboard sound chip and a separate sound card?
