The "New" option in the context menu is missing

Hello, I have noticed that the "New" option is missing. As a consequence, I can't create a new folder. I had a look at the Web and saw that the fix for it was to edit the Registry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers adding to it a new string named New, then give it this value: D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719 I did like that but the New option didn't appear all the same. I am an absolute beginner in such things. Can you give me some advice? Alberto P.S. My Windows 98 SE is in Italian. Have I got to take it into account when I operate on it?

I doubt that Registry hacks are different.
