Help!!!! "Tcp/IP Is Not Installed"

In one of the threads, someone suggested WINSOCK2FIX for a DNS error. Well, it took
me into DOS; and, somehow, I removed, erased, whatever to TCP/IP. Any ideas how
to put this back? Right now, all I can use my system for is solitaire. If info
needed, I have DSL.
Will my hero come with the answer?
Sheila

ASheila,
OOPS, damn threads, anyway.
Try this, go to Control Panel, click on the network Icon, check the "Installed Components
window. Drag the Scroll bar to the bottom to see if TCI/IP for your Network Card
(NIC) is there. The names of the Network Adapter and TCP/IP for it should read "about"
the same. If it is, highlight it, then click Add Button.
Restart if prompted.

There's nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Hi Sheila.
As Bob says you have posted a few problems with your Win98. A few with files missing
and now this one.
What is the original install date of your Win98?
Open Explorer and click on a Details view of files. What is the date on the Windows
folder? Thats when it was last installed. I bet is a very long time ago.
I would think its a good time to do a Format and re-install, what do you think?
That way it will all be fresh with no unwanted software or files that have crept
in. I would advise you to use Uninstall Manager as well, do a search here.
Of course you don't have to listen to a word I say (no one else does) but that my
opinion.
If you do decide to do a fresh install then please post back first, there are a few
other things you need to know before you do.
