Compaq Presario 5610 DVD driver needed

I picked up an older Presario 5610, tired to reload windows 98 with the restore disk but did not have the proper code to put in. I had my own windows 95 and upgrade to windows 95se. The audio and dvd did not work. I found the audio driver ( ESS Maestro 2 ) and it works. I have not been able to find the driver to get the DVD to work. The CD works. Does anyone know how to find this or get it to work. Thanks

Hi Mike.

Just to put you in the picture Win95 never had an SE, Second Edition it only had
Win95 A, B and C.

As for DVD drivers then I would have thought that the DVD Drive would have come with
appropriate drivers. I'm not sure if these are suitable for Win95 though. Go onto
the manufacturers web site for details.

My mistake, the original disk I was given, from computer frieind, says Windows 98 Release 2 full version on it. I upgraded it with Micosoft Plus98. When I check properties on the c-drive it says it is windows 98se. I have check the HP/Compaq web site. This is just the first step, I am attempting to network two Compaq ( win 98 ) comuters with cross over cables, I am being prompted to put the windows 98 disk to tranfer files and they can not be found, but that is another problem. Thanks, Mike

Mike,

Look around the case of the Machine bottom, back and inside. Preinstalled systems
often have the code on a sticker.

Or find someone who has a legal copy of Win98SE with COA & key code. Shouldn't cost
too much.

Go to DVD MFG web Site. Or at least id the DVD so someone can help.

I should be getting a windows 98SE monday. Hopefully this will help . I seem to have this problem before with motherboards with everything built into them. I still have the driver for the sound, which is really all I need. I am trying to just use the computers for music. The Dvd is just icing on the old cake.
