Upgrading to Second Edition

I currently have the First Edition and I've heard that the SE has highly-important updates/useful add-ons. Does anyone know were I can download SE as some of my pending-to-buy software requires SE too?

It's interesting that you are prepared to BUY *application* programs
but it appears you think that you can get the Microsoft product for free.
If they had called it "Windows 99" would that change your thinking?

If you want software that doesn't cost you anything, look into Linux.

We may quibble about whether abandonware should carry _any_ price,
but, in general, people who *choose* to use payware should expect to pay for that.
That said, anyone with a BitTorrent client can evade most Intellectual Property laws.

These days, however, it's possible to get a BETTER operating system completely FREE
**without** violating any laws:

...and (unlike the M$ junk), the numerous variants (aka "distros") of that OS
*come* with a scad of applications which are also Free Software.

...and, aside from the huge array of included FREE desktop apps, e.g.

as well as the powerful and fundamental GNU tools,

the mountains of useful apps that aren't *already* included on the CD[1]

can be found, downloaded, installed, and updated very simply.

...and your FREE OS will still run most of your old Windoze-compatible apps:

In short, paying to jump thru the M$ hoops (or doing things that break laws)
to get an ancient closed-source payware OS seems pretty foolish
when a modern FREE equivalent is readily available.

[1] That link also shows that you can even run Free Software apps under Windoze
to prepare for the transition to a Free Software OS.

There's even a Linux-like tool to make it easy
--and to prepare you for the ease of getting Free Software apps under Linux.
