its hard to say without actually seeing the machine, but it sounds like a dying harddrive
or maybe a virus.

When I start my computer, there is a message coming some DLL file is missing.
The computer boots up okay. When I close, most of the time the screen freezes,
and I have to reboot again. I tried to run tjhe Windows 98 CD set up and it is
not going through.
What can I do to avoid the freezing problem? Thanks in advance for any useful suggestion.
