Question about 'Get Rid of the Unwanted Explorer Windows at Startup'

I have a question about Get
Rid of the Unwanted Explorer Windows at Startup:
Every time I shutdown, I close all the windows and folders that might be open.
My computer shuts down and off on it's own. Yet when I boot up, hit at the
Windows Logon, any folder I've ever left open after a previous shutdown continues
to open up during loading.
I've searched the registry for signs of what might be opening the folders as well
as other files in C:\Windows.
I am completely at a loss. Does this just mean I need to login to Windows Logon
every time I boot up?
Thanks in advance.

No luck. GREAT program though, thanks for pointing it out.
I think it has something to do with the desktop layout (ie Window positions and
icon positions) when the machine is shut down. Anyone know where that info is stored?

and after youve done that, recheck scanregistry and taskmonitor (unless
you dont need the latter). scanreg makes backups of the registry, and taskmonitor
keeps a database of frequently used programs which defrag then uses to rearrange
the harddrive.

I have the complete opposite situation to the initial question. Explorer doesnt
remember which folders I have opened at shutdown. So when I start up next time,
all the folders I was viewing previously do not open. This is recent, it wasnt like
this before, I was doing massive clean ups in the registry and deleting loads of
files and may have inadvertantly adjusted something. How can I get explorer to remember
what was opened on the desktop?

I have the same problem. Does anyone have a solution? Windows 2000 Professional is
not reopening the explorer windows that I had open when I shut down.

I have the same problem except that:
- I'm running windows 98
- the only thing I did was to install the current version of IE6. I had previously
been running an old version of IE5.
- After I downloaded IE6, I ran the setup program. It did its work. A restart
was needed to be able to use IE6. The *first* time I rebooted after installing IE6,
open windows were remembered and appeared as usual. Since that first time though,
they have not appeared.

I have Internet Explorer v6.0.2800.1106 installed and I get a random,,, Internet
Explorer has preformed an illigal operation and will be shut down. It happens Out-of-the-Blue
and, for no reason, that I know. I could be writing Mail or reading Pages-and-Browsing
or anything like that.
What could be a fix for that, and could I try re-installing IE over the present
version? Or, what would work?
Any reply to fix this would be just great..

To active this option in Windows 2000 navigate to the key NoSaveSettings in the registry
and set the value to 1 :
Key current user, Software, Microsoft, Windows NT, Current version, Program manager,
Restrictions, NoSaveSettings = 1
Regards,
Emilio
