I have a question about How
do I stop a program from running whenever I start Windows?:
Win 98 & WinME
go to start, run, type in msconfig, under the startup tab, you can remove everything
that's checked except for scanreg, and systray, basically everything in here can
be loaded after windows loads.

Dear Robert,
Thank you, thank you ,thank you!
I have tried everything - including re-installing and upgrading Windows and using
Regedit - to get rid of a setup prog that appeared everytime I booted my computer.
Thanks to your simple tip I have not only removed the annoyance but also found the
root cause (the calling prog) of the problem.
Live long and prosper Robert.
Best regards Mike.
