Thanks Bill. I too have noticed a tremendous slow-down in my computer. Not so much with the blue screen disease but in surfing times between links. I also have recently up graded the MSN msgr and seeing your comments, looked in msconfig, and sure as hell--- there it was, "loadQm". Now it's unchecked for start-up but do you know if this file can just be deleted? Would like to know if you find out

I recently found the loadqm.exe running on my computer, from what I have found, disabling it with msconfig does not work to disable it. I ran a file search, it found the exe in the c:\windows directory. I had a friend decompile the one on my computer, from what i have been told, it was a password cracker. After cracking the password it either sends that information to a server somewhere, or changes the password using a formula located within the source code. Anyone that knows how to interpret code please contact me. Shawn

hey all loadqm.exe is a file that sends info to Microsoft, eats up recorces, and bandwith on your network \ connection. You can delete the file and QLoadmgr.exe and a various other files loadqm.exe refers to, and you msn messanger will contune to run. Microsoft has no comments on this file even though it loads with MSN. Spying on you? Perhaps.. just an FYI you can leave it if you want, but your performance will suffer.. I have also noticed that your drives (when using a scsii or a ultra DMA card) will be accessing nonstop. Just an FYI

Loadqm.exe is sending out tons of Aarp (arp) requests on our network. This looks like an attempt to discover our network's IP address structure. The broadcasts are also slowing down our users' email. I consider this a virus from the evil empire.

What is "LoadWC.exe" in the "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM" folder. When I right-click and for the properties it tells me "version 6.0.2600.0" and the name "Load Web Check" What the heck is "WebCheck?" Thanks.

Could you share out the trace of the traffic that shows 213.120.62.97 as the ultimate destination of the packets? Or did you just tracert to whatever the destination was and freak out because one of the packets went through this router?

HI, I've downloaded Xteq X-Setup 6.2 final, and you can disable it from in there - once downloaded, select Advanced Options, Startup/Shutdown/Startup/Windows 9x/me/Autorun - Part 1/Autorun Programs - then highlight LoadXQM and select disable.

The previous poster has no clue what he/she is talking about. loadqm.exe is not used to send files to Microsoft or spy on you. Here is a hot tip, Microsoft is way to busy to care what you are doing. As far as Microsoft not giving a detailed explaination as to what loadqm is, that is bull. You can find a very detailed explaination of loadqm in the Microsoft knowledge base article Q309418. If you want to get to it quickly, just go here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;Q309418 Hope this clears things up.

OK man. I have readen the note on Microsoft you have posted. I don't get it at all. I don't have a MSNCoreFiles folder, neither a Msn6.ini file. I am not saying it is an Evil Plot from MS to scan all our hard drives, but I'm sure this program "loadqm.exe" is not an angel. Any time I startup Windows it tries to connect me to "aycaramba.com.mx". So, maybe it's not from MS or from the Military, but it connects you to an undesired URL with God knows what intentions. Anyway I disabled it from the startup, and will keep looking for a best answer to the function of the program. Anyone can do this with STARTUP MONITOR, (Freeware you can get here http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml , very easy to use). Instead of deleting the program. -rm-

> Here is a response from Zone Alarms knowledge database that clearly explains LoadQM.exe and how to remove it. "Microsoft QMgr is on your computer as a result of installing either MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer (or both). Microsoft QMgr is used by Microsoft for what they term "Service Quality Monitoring." A brief explanation of this functionality is a Microsoft server monitors your MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer login status. You can learn more about this feature by accessing the Help and Settings menu within MSN Explorer, click on the Privacy section. If you are using MSN Messenger, go to the Help menu and select "Privacy Policy." Microsoft QMgr is currently designed to launch at bootup regardless if you have MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer configured to do so. In addition, Microsoft QMgr runs as a service so that means it is always on, even if MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer are not being used. Microsoft QMgr will run as a service no matter what permissions are applied through ZoneAlarm. If you desire to eliminate Microsoft QMgr running as a service, refer to the removal section for information on how to accomplish this. The removal method is: Removing Microsoft QMgr Microsoft QMgr is placed in the root directory of Windows when you install MSN Messenger or MSN Explorer. If you are using Windows NT or 2000 or XP, you can terminate the Microsoft QMgr process by using ctrl-alt-del, accessing the Task Manager process tab and looking for LOADQM.EXE. Simply highlight the entry and select "end process." Then, you will be able to delete LOADQM.EXE from the Windows root directory (go to Start/Search/For Files and Folders if unsure where to find LOADQM.EXE). Also, you should remove the loadQM instance at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. If you are unfamiliar with editing the Registry, it is advised to consult technical expertise to assist you. If you are using Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me, you will need a third party utility to terminate a running process. You can search freeware software tool web sites such as WebAttack for such a utility. Worked for me. Good luck.
