Does anyone know how to get rid of the irritating blue Dell screen on Dell computers that covers up the boot process? Thanks!

If you have TweakUI it has an option to not display splash screens or you can always replace them with some you like. C:\logo.sys(startup screen) - C:\Windows logos.sys(shutdown screen) logow.sys(wait screen)

I'm assuming your Dell system is similar to mine, so next time you boot up, go to system setup (the DEL key) and there is an option for QUIET BOOT (enabled shows the DELL logo screen, disabled turns it off).

I am not finding any such setting in my Bios. Here's what's on my Bios' Boot tab:

Boot-Time Diagnostics Screen (disabled)
Quickboot Mode (disabled)
Restore on AC/Power Loss (last state)
1st Boot Device (hard drive)
2nd Boot Device...
3rd Boot Device...
4th Boot Device...
Hard Drive
Removable Drives

That's it. I couldn't find a setting on any other tab for a Quiet-anything. There HAS to be a way to disable this thing. I have a Dell XPS R-450 Pentium II running a Phoenix Bios.

The setting in TweakUI only disables the Windows splash screen, which comes up after Windows starts to boot up. The Dell splash screen appears almost as soon as my computer boots up and starts to count my RAM, and it proceeds to cover up the entire boot process, including the option to enter my Bios setup, until Windows starts loading.

The Boot Up screen is handled in the BIOS. You need to run "setup" when the machine
is first started. BIOS's
can vary but you should find a setting under "BOOT" with something like "show diagnostics"
which will show
xxx MB SYSTEM RAM PASSED
KEYBOARD DETECTED
MOUSE DETECTED
DRIVE 0
DRIVE 1 ETC...

Much more informative than "DUH DELL"

Bad news, My friend has the same problem w/ his emachine, the only answer I can find is to re-write your BIOS (don't even think about it), or load in a bios from the board manufacurer, not emach/Dell etc. But that is a WAY risky gane.

I finally found the answer! It was in the Bios on the Boot tab under a heading like "disable diagnostics!" Everyone else I talked to with a Dell computer said their setting was on the Boot tab under "Quiet Boot." D.J.

You will want to set 'Boot-Time Diagnostics Screen' to 'Enabled' in the BIOS. That should do it.

This is a easy one,, look all you have to do is pull off the dell sticker on you board, and you will see that is a INTEL board just re-flash and Dell epa (logo) is gone

I know this is an old dead thread, but I foudn the correct answer to this question today. The OEM flash screen is in the MSCONFIG. Click "Start-Run" and type MSCONFIG. Under the system.ini tab, expand the bott menu by clicking the + sign. Remove the checkmark beside the entry oemfonts.fon=vgaoem.fon Be sure to click apply, then reboot when prompted. No more OEM splash screen! And no BIOS change either!

All Dell System like Optiplexes or Dimension system are using Intel based motherboards. Intel has a utility that allows Dell to change or customize the Dell Logo or which was previously an Intel logo to their company's logo here's the website were you could download this utility. If your system is a newer line of Dell system that has a P4 or higher P3 processor on it then I suggest you use the "Splash Screen Utility" for changing or customizing the BIOS splash screen. -=What is the MATRIX?=- http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/gen_indx.htm

I just went through all of this with an "Intel Motherboard" splash screen that prevented me from running setup. After unsuccessfully trying everything, I randomly tried hitting ESC while the splash screen was up, and it worked. I was then able to turn off the spash screen in the boot section of setup.

I just installed a second HD, used a friend's Win98 disk and after installing it, I now have a "HP yada, yada, possibilities" on boot up and I find it annoying. How can I get it to go away?
