The 'ol "Windows Proctection Error" I hate that. Try to boot in safe mode and verify
that you do not have any hardware conflicts in system properties.

I have had this problem in the past and ultimately I ended up reinstalling the OS,
however it was in WIN98 and maybe you'll have more luck than I.
