I am sure you have solved this problem by now but I will answer it anyway. I had the same problem with Windows ME. To get rid of the logon screen when you are NOT using multiple users...here is what you do. When the logon screen comes up..type in a name (anything you want- own name), leave the password area blank, then click ok. That's it...I restarted my computer and have never had the logon box come up again. So simple yet so affective.
