I have had a similar problem, until I realised, all I needed was a Win 95 boot disk, I loaded all the cd drivers, but had to tinker about to find out my soundcard settings. Once that was done and written to the autoexec.bat file, all I needed to do was configure my dos game and run it. Be aware that it isn't always easy finding dos drivers for new soundcards though, but you may have one on the cd that came with your sound card.
