Wendy, you can try running ScanDisk to repair any faults, and then you can run it to check for errors in MS-DOS filenames. Be careful to note which filenames show as being too long e.g. REAL player or Jukebox. The virus may have changed things so take a look at the Norton-Symantec Security Response page and see if you can find any further information there. Also use the program Ad-aware 5.7 (free) to check for spyyware and chanes to the registry. V-good program this. The latest version includes the latest spyware definitions in its reference file. You can also load RefUpdate 1.3 to allow you to up-date more easily. Also check out start-up problems in the Microsoft Product Support Page under ME / trouble-shooting where you will find a Q-article on viruses. Ian.
